The Thermal Lab is part of the Joint Lab Berlin "Technical Safety" (JLB). The lab connects various institutions (industrial companies, research institutes and professorships of universities as well as groups of Fraunhofer institutes). They do research on the field of safety and reliability of micro and nano technologies and their applications. The professorship operates and supports test stands of the following methods:

• TIM-testing
• 3-Omega
• Laser flashing
