Research focus of the junior professorship of epidemiology
The junior professorship for epidemiology is responsible for the teaching of epidemiology in the master of public health program at TU Chemnitz. Its focus in research, among other things, comprises social and health services epidemiology. It examines the difference of various population groups with respect to their health and health behavior as well as concerning the access and quality of health care services they receive. The research unit’s activities contribute to the identification of the mechanisms involved in the development of inequalities in health, health care utilization and health care outcomes. This aims to derive strategies for the improvement of the health of the entire population.
Research interests comprise among other things:
- Health and health care among migrants
- Illness perceptions and coping with chronic diseases
- Rehabilitation and nursing
- International public health
On a methodological level, the research unit works on the development of epidemiological research methods.
