„High responsibility is one key to success“

Chinese professor visits Collaborative Research Center in Chemnitz for scientific exchange

From September 2014 until August 2015, Dr. Jiashe Zhao, who is also an associate professor at the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Institute of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), China, visits Technische Universität Chemnitz. At the professorship Micromanufacturing Technology he will conduct experimental research. As an outstanding scientist he was awarded a scholarship under the China Scholarship Council (CSC). This scholarship gives him a chance to come to Germany in order to exchange knowledge in the field of Electrochemical Machining. “When I got the opportunity do a research scholarship, I looked for a university in Germany especially. I found the professorship Micromanufacturing Technology and learned that the study of Advanced Manufacturing Technology in this professorship is very comprehensive and systematic. This gives a good environment for the research of electrochemical machining, in my opinion,” Zhao states. "I contacted Prof. Andreas Schubert, head of the professorship Micromanufacturing Technology and we agreed that I will support his group well based on my recent research.”

After settling the formalities, Jianshe Zhao arrived in Chemnitz on September 6th, 2014. “Chemnitz is very beautiful and the air here is very clear. The kindness and enthusiasm of German also make me feel warm. What gives me a deeper impression is the strong responsibility of people here: Person who installs network in my flat is very serious and methodical. Colleagues in the office carry out their work consciously and conscientiously every day. Equipment and instruments in the lab are tidily maintained and regulated used,” says Zhao. During his stay, the research of Dr. Zhao concentrates on the electrochemical machining of aluminium matrix composites within the scope of the Collaborative Research Center SFB 692 HALS. The focus is on the experimental analysis of the electrochemical dissolution characteristics of these innovative materials. “Through preliminary communication with German colleagues and the help they give me, combined with exchanges with Chinese students here, I have a more profound understanding of the responsibility here. The seriousness of work and the strictly implementation on norms and standard are rich here, which mechanical engineering in China is lacking. Which brings me to the conclusion that high responsibility is one key to success.”
