Zur Person

Janine Brill ist seit Oktober 2023 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Doktorandin an der Professur für Medienkommunikation der Technischen Universität Chemnitz. Zuvor war sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Professur für Kommunikationswissenschaft mit Schwerpunkt Soziale Kommunikation an der Universität Erfurt sowie an der Professur für Grundlagen der Medienkommunikation und der Medienwirkung am Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena tätig.

Janine Brill studierte Kommunikationswissenschaft und Interkulturelle Wirtschaftskommunikation (B.A.) sowie Öffentliche Kommunikation (M.A.) an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. Während ihres Masterstudiums war sie dort als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft am Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft tätig. Derzeit promoviert sie an der Technischen Universität Chemnitz, wo sie die Beziehung zwischen den Akkulturationsverläufen und den Gesundheitsinformationsrepertoires von Migrant*innen erster Generation in Deutschland untersucht.

Seit 2025 ist sie Mitglied des Standing Committee on Methodological Approaches and Tools in Migration Research (Meth@Mig) des International Migration Research Network (IMISCOE). Seit 2024 ist Janine Brill YECREA Representative (Vertreterin des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses) der Health Communication Section der European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA). Zudem vertritt sie die Professur Medienkommunikation als Netzwerkpartnerin im Teilprojekt „FoMo“ (Forschungsmonitor) des Verbundprojekts „Monitoring System und Transferplattform Radikalisierung“ (MOTRA). Darüber hinaus engagiert sie sich in der Fachgruppe Gesundheitskommunikation der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft (DGPuK) sowie in der Mobile Communication Division der International Communication Association (ICA).

  • Migration: Akkulturation, Gesundheits(informations)verhalten von Migrant*innen, Berichterstattung über Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund (insbesondere im Kontext von Kriminalität)
