About us

On June 5, 2007, the "Center for Fitness and Health" opened in the basement of the Pegasus Center, Reichenhainer Straße 31-33, as a facility of Chemnitz University of Technology, under the responsibility of the Institute for Applied Movement Sciences. Since then, this facility has served as a university-owned fitness studio, primarily for the practical training of students in sports science degree programs. Furthermore, the center expands and enhances the offerings for students and staff of all ages at Chemnitz University of Technology within the framework of university sports and workplace health promotion.

Eighteen years later, in June 2025, the facility moved to the sports hall and laboratory complex at Reichenhainer Straße 53, directly on the campus grounds. Since then, the ZFG has distinguished itself through a diverse range of training options in strength training and functional and machine-based training. Modern equipment from brands such as Schnell, Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, and Concept2 offers a wide spectrum of training possibilities.
