Conflicts in the Workplace
Conflicts are a part of everyday life. Often, our everyday conflicts are mirrored in our work lives, creating additional potential for conflict. While conflicts between two or more employees may be easily resolved at first, as the conflict drags on, it becomes necessary to involve a professional mediator.
Acts of bullying are not isolated or independent conflicts, but rather represent a stage of escalation within an existing conflict. Acts of bullying are often preceded by low-level conflicts and only intensify over time. Conflict counseling is therefore certainly advisable even in cases of low-level conflicts, so that a potential escalation can be prevented right from the start.
Conflict as an Opportunity?
Conflict can also be viewed as an opportunity. Often, conflicts at a basic level reveal shortcomings at various levels. Both human and structural shortcomings can act as drivers of conflict. The conflict and its resolution can thus contribute positively to addressing these shortcomings and creating a collaborative work environment.
