The project Jet-PeP addresses explicitly the research and development of the Plasma electrolytic Polishing (PeP) process by an innovative process arrangement suitable for localized material ablation. The Jet-PeP process is intended to modify the surface in the micro- and nanometer range.

In this context the innovative process handling will enable the economic and practical applicability of the PeP process as a technology with improved resource utilization for the design and the manufacturing of local surface functionalization.

As application sectors for the research achievements, medical engineering as well as aerospace and automotive can be highlighted. Because of the enormous importance of these industries for the involved project partners, the market potential for the intended developments is assessed with excellent prospects. Usable results will in particular be system technological know-how that will bring substantial progress to potential machine manufacturers or technology and product providers, respectively. Finally, all project partners will benefit directly already during the entire project period from a profitable collaboration and from the development of specialized research capacities.
