Workshop in Ifrane, Morocco (10.09.2023 - 14.09.2023)

The 2nd MADE-AI Workshop, held in Ifrane, Morocco from 10th to 14th September 2023, was a collaborative platform where professionals and researchers gathered to discuss advancements and projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The event featured insightful presentations, engaging discussions, lab visits, company tours, and social interactions, providing a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in AI.

The first day commenced with a warm welcome and an introduction to the workshop by Dr. Asmaa Mourhir from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI). Attendees were then introduced, followed by a presentation about the MADE-AI Project by Reda Harradi from Chemnitz University of Technology (CUT). Throughout the day, various presentations highlighted the work and research at AUI. These included an overview of Al Akhawayn University, presentations on the School of Science and Engineering, the research landscape, and computer science programs. Participants had the opportunity to visit the Robotics and Mechatronics Lab, Smart Grids Lab, Sustainable Materials Lab, Biomass Energy Lab, and IoT Lab, gaining practical insights into ongoing research and experiments. The day concluded with a guided tour of the AUI campus, offering an overview of the university's infrastructure.

The following day began with a series of engaging technical presentations covering various AI and technology-related topics, including Darija NLP, Collaborative Self Protecting Software, Smart Building Energy Efficiency, Autonomous Driving, CubeSat Mission, Arabic NLP in Education, and more.

The afternoon featured additional presentations, including discussions on TinyML Applications, Waste Detection with Computer Vision, Microhooks for Microservices, Privacy-enabled Resource Allocation in 6G, and Network Slicing in LORAWAN. On Wednesday the attendees visited the company Alten, providing an industry perspective and further insights into AI applications. Additionally, a social and cultural program was organized to immerse attendees in the local culture. The final day included discussions about upcoming symposia and networking sessions, providing an outlook on future collaborative opportunities. The event concluded with a summary and farewell.

The MADE-AI Workshop was a successful event, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers and professionals in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It provided a valuable platform for sharing insights, exploring research projects, and establishing meaningful connections within the AI community.
