Christmas lecture
when Mathematics Starts to Flow
On 17.12.2025, the traditional Christmas lecture at TU Chemnitz combines mathematical models of fluid flow with winter-themed illustrations, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive visualizations.
The lecture explores phenomena from fluid dynamics and atmospheric flows, as well as fundamental questions of mathematical modeling and numerical simulation, presented in an accessible and festive setting.
Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) defense of Erell Jamelot
26 September 2025, NeuroSpin, CEA Saclay (Paris)
I am very honored to take part in the jury of the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches of Erell Jamelot. The defense focuses on contributions to the analysis of finite element methods for models arising in electromagnetism, neutronics and fluid dynamics, with particular attention to mixed formulations, saddle-point problems and eigenvalue questions.

Where: Heidelberg (Germany)
ENUMATH 2025 (European Conference on Numerical Mathematics and Advanced Applications) takes place in Heidelberg from 1–5 September 2025.
Plenary lecture at the 11th GACM Colloquium on Computational Mechanics
I am very honored to give a plenary talk at this event, taking place at TU Braunschweig from 21–24 September 2025. The conference brings together researchers from applied mathematics, engineering and computational science and the lecture aims at building bridges between engineering applications and mathematical analysis, highlighting how both perspectives enrich the development of reliable numerical methods.
Best practice: bright colors turn out to be very helpful when browsing the conference photo gallery.

August 1st, 2025: PhD Disputation of Henrik Schneider
One of the greatest rewards in academia is watching PhD students grow into confident, independent researchers. Today, we celebrated the successful PhD disputation of Henrik Schneider. Congratulations on this important milestone! A special thank you to three former PhD students whom I had the privilege to support — your presence made this occasion particularly meaningful.
This PhD project also resulted in several joint publications, including Discontinuous Petrov–Galerkin Approximation of Eigenvalue Problems, Superconvergence of DPG Approximations in Linear Elasticity, and Least-Squares Finite Element Method for the Simulation of Sea-Ice Motion.
