Workshop: From Disorder to Topology
An interdisciplinary workshop bringing together experimentalists and theorists in correlated electrons, surface science, magnetism and, statistical physics.
Condensed matter physics is one of the fundamental directions of research in the basic sciences as well as a cornerstone of many applications in technology that range from sensors to (quantum) computing and from electronics to energy applications. Strong correlations are behind the most prominent effects observed in such systems, ranging from glassiness to superconductivity, and from majorana Fermions to the (anomalous) quantum Hall effect. This proposal addresses such systems in various physical settings, both experimentally and theoretically. This workshop is organized as part of the SPARC-GIANT project "Effects of strong correlations in low dimensions" between TU Chemnitz and the Indian Insitute of Technology, Delhi, funded by DAAD (Germany) and the Ministry of Education in India.

Workshop on Statistical Physics and Machine Learning
A hands-on workshop and interaction point for early-career and experienced researchers from statistical physics and machine learning.
The history of Machine Learning is tied to theories and models from Statistical Physics. However, Machine Learning evolved into an independent field with its own approaches. This generates the unique situation that novel Machine Learning techniques can be applied to solve problems in Statistical Physics, while at the same time novel developments from Statistical Physics open opportunities to explain algorithms from Machine Learning. This workshop provides a platform for early career and senior researchers from applied Machine Learning and Statistical Physics to discuss the state of the art and future directions.
