Monday, September 17

  • 7:30 am: mutual breakfast CUT students and Wits staff in the hotel
  • 9:00 am: arrival of UKZN students and staff
  • 9:30 am: official welcoming by Prof. Judy BACKHOUSE (Head of School of Economics and Business Sciences) and Prof. David COLDWELL (Head of Division Management)
  • 10:00 am to 12:00 am: lecture by Mr. Rob VENTER on “Entrepreneurial values, hybridity and entrepreneurial capital: Insights from Johannesburg informal sector” and Introduction in fieldwork projects
  • 12:30 am: fieldwork projects at Bree Street Market and KwaMai Mai Market
  • 6:00 pm: welcome dinner at the hotel

Tuesday September 18

  • 9:30 am: Prof. Robert THORNTON presentation on “Anthropological insights in the South African mining industry”
  • 11:00 am: guided tour in the Origins Center by Prof. THORNTON
  • 12:30 am: lunch at Origins Center

  • 3:30 pm: Mr. Tobias HARSCH (CUT) presentation on “Leadership expectations of German students”
  • 4:00 pm: Ms. Jennifer BEUCHOLD & Ms. Melanie LÖSER (both CUT) presentation on „South African and German leadership in the focus of institutional and cultural concepts”
  • 8:00 pm: Barnyard Theatre “7 wonders”

Wednesday, September 19
