'Star Wars' Lingo really is Part of Everyday English

German researchers studied how terms like “Jedi,” “Padawan,” and “Yoda” are used in various English corpora, including the British National Corpus and the Corpus of Contemporary American English. Study author Dr. Christina Sanchez-Stockhammer, chair of English and Digital Linguistics at Chemnitz University of Technology, says that the word “Jedi” occurs more than four times per million words, meaning it is as common as general vocabulary words like “jewel” or “dizzy.”
