Consequences of plagiarism

Plagiarism in seminar papers or final theses can have serious consequences.

These can be:

• Withdrawal of examination results (e.g. seminar papers or dissertations, in particular dissertations)
• in extreme cases, de-registration
• legal consequences due to copyright infringement
• claim for damages

Correct quoting is a basic requirement of scientific work. Violations of the obligation to quote can be punished as forgeries and lead to accusations of plagiarism.
