Chemnitz University of Technology Is Part of the 35-Year Success Story of the Erasmus+ Program

Erasmus+ turns 35 - Chemnitz University of Technology is part of this success with 1.8 million euros in funding raised and over 200 partnerships in 31 countries

For 35 years, the Erasmus+ Program has been a mainstay of European integration and stands for dynamic and vibrant exchange in a united Europe without borders. Since 1987, the program has enabled more than twelve million people to gain intercultural experience and build networks.

With its more than 200 Erasmus+ partner universities in 31 countries, Chemnitz University of Technology is part of this success story and one of currently 350 participating German universities. In the past ten years alone, Chemnitz University of Technology has supported stays abroad of more than 1,100 students and employees of the university through the Erasmus+ Program.

Chemnitz University of Technology has raised around 1.8 million euros in Erasmus funding for this purpose since 2012. "The program anniversary is not only an occasion to look back, but also to look forward," emphasizes Oliver Sachs, Erasmus coordinator of the International Office at Chemnitz University of Technology. "The new program generation offers additional funding lines, even more comprehensive inclusion as well as additional funding and has been provided with a solid budget by the European Commission. This means that the success story can be continued," continues Sachs.

New application phase begins in December 2022

Whichever destination you choose: In December 2022, the application phase for an Erasmus+ semester abroad in the winter semester 2023/24 or summer semester 2024 begins.

The first step is the application for a place in the exchange program in your own department. After that, the application for the Erasmus program participation must be submitted to the International Office of Chemnitz University of Technology by March 31, 2023. So there is enough time to inform yourself about the program.
