The Professorship for Machine Tools and Forming Technology at the Institute for Machine Tools and Production Processes (IWP) has continuously extended its position as a nationwide and internationally recognized centre for teaching and research in production technology in the recent years. The basic research has been strengthened and focused on sustainable topics as part of Chemnitz University of Technology’s priority fields of research, namely „Energy-efficient Production Processes“, „Human Factors in Technologies“ and „Smart Systems and Materials“ and in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU. The professorship significantly contributes to the implementation of the Bologna Process at Chemnitz University of Technology by active participation in launching the bachelor and master degree programs. In this regard, both the existing courses are continuously refined and new courses in innovative fields of teaching are implemented. The greater goal is the education of holistically qualified and competent graduates, which meet the requirements of industry and research.
