Online Kick-Off Meeting
After intensive preparations, the kick-off for the new "Smart.Eco" project took place on February 20, 2023. This is a project which will be within the program of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), which contributes to the "University Dialogue with the Islamic World 2023-2024".
The duration of the "Smart.Eco" project is from 01.01.2023 to 31.12.2024. Participating project partners are:
- - TU Chemnitz; Faculty of Computer Science, Professorship of Computer Engineering: Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Wolfram Hardt
- - University of Jordan; Innovation Center and Entrepreneurship Center; Director Dr. Yazan Alzain
- - Doha University of Science and Technology UDST - Qatar; Professorship Chemnical Engineering Technology; Prof. Mohannad Aljarrah
The aim of "Smart.Eco" is to give students and scientists the opportunity to gain further qualifications and develop intercultural skills within the framework of the project. In addition, the partner universities in Jordan and Qatar are networked with local economic partners who are active in the field of environmentally friendly solutions, thus offering practical contact between universities and companies. Finally, a suitable research network is to be established with the universities from Jordan, Qatar and Germany.
Through the implementation of the project goals by the students, scientists from the partner universities, who are professionally qualified in the field of application of computer vision, AI (Artificial Intelligence) methods and drone technology for environmentally friendly solutions, a so-called "Sustainable Lab" is to be established in Qatar and Jordan.This will be made possible, among other things, through technical workshops as well as study tours in the partner universities. Finally, an "idea competition" (hackathon) of the project participants will take place twice within the project duration. Below is an overview of the upcoming events regarding the project:
