How the Programme Works

The mentoring programme takes up to 12 months (for PhD students) or 18 months and can be extended depending on the individual’s needs. 10 to 15 Tandempartenrs will take part in the programme and will go through the following phases and or points of the programme:

  1. They are equally ready and bound to participate in the programme.

  2. They apply to the programme. Current information on the application process. Following the application, the applicant receives an invitation to an interview.

  3. The interview is a selection interview. The equality commissioner of the TU Chemnitz and the project coordinator will be present at these interviews. Questions that will be covered are why you applied to the programme, what your motivation is, what are the goals you wish to achieve during and after participating as well as your personal preference of who your mentor should be.

  4. We will begin searching for a mentor for you, should you have been accepted to participate in the programme.

  5. A mentoring agreement will be signed.

  6. During the official event that commences the programme, you will get to know the other mentees and their respectable mentors that were also chosen to participate in the programme. During this event, your role as a mentee will be elaborated on, and potential organisational questions will be answered. A workshop may also take place.

  7. You will meet with your mentor regularly. How often these meetings will take place will depend on what you agree upon with your mentor. Ideally, you will meet every four to eight weeks. These meetings can also take place via Skype, phone call and email.

  8. You will participate in the regularly scheduled qualification workshops and networking events.

  9. You will take part in the evaluation of the programme (fill out the evaluation form and, if offered, at a revision and or discussion workshop)

  10. At the closing event, you will receive a participation certificate.
