About
Thomas Basler received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Chemnitz University of Technology in 2009. His Diploma thesis was on the robustness of power diodes. Between 2009 and 2013 he was a member of the scientific staff at the Chair of Power Electronics and Electromagnetic Compatibility at Chemnitz University of Technology. At the beginning of 2014 he received his PhD. His thesis is about short-circuit and surge-current ruggedness of IGBTs and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Josef Lutz. 2014 he joined Infineon Technologies AG, Neubiberg, Germany, where he worked on the development of SiC MOSFETs, diodes and Si IGBTs. In April 2020, he has taken over the chair of power electronics at TU Chemnitz as a Professor. Further he is member of the SiC technical committee at the IRPS, advisory member in JEDEC task groups for SiC topics and co-founder of Chemnitz Power Labs GmbH.

About

Josef Lutz studied Physics at the University of Stuttgart, from 1983 he was with Semikron Elektronik, in Nuremberg. He invented the Controlled Axial Lifetime (CAL) diode and holds several patents in the field of fast diodes. In 1999 he graduated as PhD in electrical engineering at the university of Ilmenau. Since August 2001 he is Professor for Power Electronics and Electromagnetic Compatibility at the Chemnitz University of Technology.

He is senior member of IEEE and serves in several international committees (PCIM,  EPE, ISPS, CIPS) He is member of the advisory board of the Journal Microelectronics Reliability. His main publication is the book "Semiconductor Power Devices - Physics, Characteristics, Reliability", printed in German (2006, 2012), in English (2011, 2018) and in Chinese (2013). His focus of research is on power semiconductor devices, ruggedness, reliability. In 2005, he was elected as honorary professor at the North Caucasian Technical University in Stavropol.
