Conversion of Grades

Please note: Decisions on whether it is possible to convert grades gained abroad into grades under the German system are the responsibility of the relevant examination board. The following information is provided by the International Office purely intended as guidance and is not legally binding.
 

“Modified Bavarian Formula”

Grades can be converted – as appropriate – using the “modified Bavarian formula,” for example. This uses the maximum achievable grade and the minimum pass grade from the foreign grading system. A partial overview is provided on the transcript of records from the host institution, and the necessary information on foreign grading systems is available from the anabin database.
