Doctoral position

Project title
Compressive sensing and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging

Project description
The Chair for Mathematics of Information Processing at RWTH Aachen University is presently looking for candidates for a doctoral position. The research associated to this position will be concerned with compressive sensing, uncertainty quantification and robust optimization in the context of quantitative magnetic resonance imaging. This is a joint project together with the Chair of Applied and Numerical Analysis at the Technical University of Munich and with GE Healthcare funded by BMBF. Candidates are expected to have a strong mathematical background in one or more of the following areas: compressive sensing, nonlinear (numerical) optimization, mathematical signal processing, (high-dimensional) probability theory, mathemat- ical foundations of machine learning. Programming skills and experience are re- quired. Moreover, interest in applications and, in particular, in magnetic resonance is expected. Candidates are expected to contribute to the teaching duties of the chair at a moder- ate level. Knowledge of the German language will not be necessary in the beginning, but candidates are expected to develop sufficient German skills during the first 2 years. Salary: 75% of TVL 13 Duration: 3 years (extension may be possible) Requirements: Completed Master degree in Mathematics, Data Science or equivalent. Required Documents: Motivation letter, Curriculum Vitae, publications (if any), electronic copy of Master thesis, certificates of academic degrees, at least one letter of recommendation and/or names of potential reference persons. Please send your application in pdf-format to Prof. Dr. Holger Rauhut at rauhut@mathc.rwth-aachen.de by June 30, 2020. Late applications will be considered until the positions are filled. Recommendation letters should be sent directly via e-mail by the reference persons. The required academic degree may still be in the process of completion at the time of application, but the candidate must hold the degree at the start of the position.
