Job Description: The advertised position is associated with the Mathematical Institute in the Machine Learning Group of Ass.-Prof. Dr. Philipp Petersen. We are looking for an independent, goal oriented scientist with interests in theoretical machine learning, in particular, deep learning and deep neural networks. The topic of the proposed project is the theoretical analysis of classical problems in numerical analysis in the framework of modern algorithms of machine learning. Responsibilities include participation in the research activities, the independent teaching of courses (holding classes due to extent regulations of wage agreement) and execution of examinations as well as participation in teaching evaluations and in administrative tasks. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months. Profile: Diploma or master degree in mathematics, high level of competence in functional analysis and numerical analysis. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
