“Good Data” Ideation

Obwohl der Begriff “Big Data” und die damit einhergehenden Versprechen allgegenwärtig sind, gibt es bislang nur sehr wenig konkrete Ideen und Vorstellungen, wie die Welt dadurch ein besserer Ort werden kann. Das Think Big-Programm von der Deutschen Kinder- und Jugendstiftung (DKJS) und der Telefónica Stiftung hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, das zu ändern. In dreitägigen “Thing Big Camps” lernen Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, selbst Daten mit elektronischen Sensoren zu sammeln, und was man aus diesen Daten herauslesen kann. Ziel der Camps ist es, dass junge Menschen Kompetenzen im Umgang mit “Big Data” erwerben und selbst Projektideen entwickeln, wie man Daten für gute Zwecke nutzen kann.

Das “Thing Big Camp: Big Data” wird von K+F Education im Auftrag der DKJS konzipiert und umgesetzt. Die Forschergruppe “miteinander” unterstützt und gibt technische und konzeptionelle Beratung.

Although “Big Data” and the associated promises are omnipresent, there are very few concrete ideas how it can improve the world. The Think Big programme of the German Children and Youth Foundation (DKJS) and the Telefónica Foundation has set itself the goal to change this. In three-day “Thing Big Camps”, teenagers and young adults learn to collect data themselves using electronic sensors and how to read from this data. The aim of the camps is to acquire skills in dealing with “big data” and to develop project ideas on how data can be used for good causes.

The “Thing Big Camp: Big Data” is conceptualised and conducted by K+F Education on behalf of the DKJS. The “miteinander” research group supports and provides technical and conceptual advice.
