Preface

In the tradition of previous symposia held in Etelsen, Aachen, and Cottbus the Volkswagen Foundation will sponsor this symposium with the purpose of enhancing interdisciplinary co-operation between engineers, physicists and mathematicians in the field of non-linear, dynamic problems in production systems.

The following topics are covered:
Nonlinear dynamics and data analysis of manufacturing processes and production sytems, turning and milling processes, acoustic emission analysis, nonlinear dynamics and stochastic properties of grinding processes, laser welding and laser jet cutting processes, structure formation in electrochemical dissolution processes, nonlinear dynamics of waterjet cutting, self-excited and chaotic vibrations of machine tools, nonlinear dynamics of chip formation, nonlinear aspects of complex production systems and networks, self-organized dynamics of production lines, nonlinear dynamics and fault diagnosis in industrial robotics and machine elements, methods of nonlinear dynamics for the design in process engineering, with the following goals:

Since this is the final symposium within the Volkswagen foundation priority program “Investigations of Non-linear Dynamic Effects in Production Systems”, it appears appropriate to document, also formally on an advanced level, recently obtained achievements in this field. Therefore, we plan to publish selected contributions in book form with a renowned publisher. The goal is to make the achievements of the last years available to a broader international audience and to provide a perspective for future research in this and related fields.

Registration and Submission of Papers

Topics to be covered at the symposium include, but are not limited to the following:

Scientists wishing to attend the symposium are asked to register on our web page
