Continuation of the German-Israeli Workshop in 2017

Chemnitz University of Technology and Sapir Academic College Sderot organize the workshop “German-Israeli relations” and bring German and Israeli students together – end of Application: January 5th

The in 2016 successfully initiated seminar workshop “German-Israeli Relations” will be continued in the following year. Goal of the project is to bring together 15 students from Chemnitz and the south Israeli City of Sderot for a week at their respective universities to support the academic and intercultural exchange. The Focus lies on topics and challenges concerning both, Germany and Israel, in particular: the commemoration of the Holocaust, regional (security) policy challenges in the Middle East and Europe as well as problems of the youth, migration and integration in the German and Israeli immigration community. The exchange is about the mutual discovery and understanding of the respective other side – academically and personally. Beside the student workshops the program offers interesting lectures, joint excursions (Chemnitz, Dresden, Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv) and the opportunity to experience the new culture of the respective host country.

The visit of the 15 Israeli students in Chemnitz will take place from March 19 till March 26, 2017 – the return visit of the Chemnitz students in the Israeli Sderot is scheduled for the end of June 2017. The workshops in Chemnitz are led by the Department of International Relations under the management of Prof. Dr. Beate Neuss and her co-worker Jakob Kullik – the Israeli workshops are led by Dr. Ori Lev and Dr. Michael Dahan of the Department of Public Policy and Administration at the Sapir Academic College.

As of now, every student of each discipline at the Chemnitz University of Technology enrolled can apply with a short letter of motivation in English (1 page) and an English curriculum vitae in tabular form. Applications are to be send to Prof. Dr. Beate Neuss until January 5th 2017. The students will stay in host families for the duration of their stay in Israel and a financial contribution to the travel expenses is intended.
