Celebrating the pre-Christmas season with fellow students, coworkers, graduates, friends and university partners – this is a cherished tradition at the TU Chemnitz. However, this year something new awaits all visitors, big and small: the annual courtyard festival will become the first ever TU Christmas Market on December 3rd. In authentic advent market style, all visitors from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m. can enjoy a lively and colorful program in the plaza in front of the Weinhold-Bau located at Reichenhainer Straße 70. On stage, the experienced musicians of the TU Big Band and the University Choir will provide musical accompaniment for the day. Likewise, the young entertainers from the Kindergarten “Krabbelkäfer” will give a performance. The Unishop will present its collection in a fashion show and will also be represented in the market with a sales booth. Smaller visitors can enjoy the crafting area as well.

As the day’s highlight, a flea market will also open up on the site of the TU Christmas Market, at which some hidden treasure or another is sure to be found. In addition, various student initiatives and institutions will be present in the marketplace and will offer the chance for visitors to receive more information. The International Office has prepared a quiz as well. The Techniker Krankenkasse offers visitors to the TU Christmas Market a heart stress measurement, at the end of which participants will be able to view their personal vital-check printout. Meanwhile, the UNICUM-Campustüten giveaways will provide excitement. The Chemnitz-Zwickau Student Union and a food truck from "Emmas Onkel", a café from the Chemnitz Kaßberg, are responsible for catering the event and will be providing Christmassy treats and mulled wine for all visitors.

But there will also be something available for those with a thirst for knowledge. Interested visitors are invited to take part in the Christmas lecture put on by the Faculty of Mathematics. Beginning at 3:30 p.m., Prof. Dr. Ivan Veselic will discuss "(Mis)Understanding Stochastics" in room N112 in the lecture hall building located at Reichenhainer Straße 90.
