Court Festival in pre-Christmas atmosphere

With music, sweet dainties and mulled wine the TU Chemnitz celebrates together with students, graduates, friends and sponsors the Advent season on December 4th

For the first time the traditional Court Festival will take place on the forecourt of the Weinhold-Bau in Reichenhainer Straße 70. Wednesday, December 4th, the university invites all professors and staff as well as all students, graduates, friends and sponsors to celebrate the upcoming Advent season. Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. all visitors may enjoy the pre-Christmas program including exhibitors with special offers or Christmas goodies and drinks in front of the Weinhold-Bau.

At 2 p.m. Prof. Dr. Arnold van Zyl, Rector of the Technische Universität Chemnitz, will declare the festival open. Afterwards the TU Bigband and its director Marc Hartmann will begin with the musical part of the program. From 2.30 p.m. the TU University Library offers a reading of Christmas stories at the Weinhold-Bau (Room W014). At 3 p.m. the children of the playschool "Krabbelkäfer” will perform their program on the stage. At 3.30 p.m. Annett Müller, Deputy Head of the International Office, will illustrate in her lecture "Christmas global” in the Weinhold-Bau (Room W014) that Christmas is a traditional festivity. In addition there is fashion show of the current Uni-Shop collection at the forecourt. The choir and its director Prof. Conrad Seibt as well as the band Ex-Boygroup United will entertain the audience after 4 p.m.

During the whole event there is the possibility to participate in a stress testing which is offered in cooperation with the Techniker Krankenkasse. Therefore a registration via e-mail (kommunikation@tu-chemnitz.de) is necessary. "Also the youngest visitors may enjoy the event. The team of the `Familiengerechte Hochschule´ will take care of them, offering street painting and crafts for children and a play corner in the foyer of the Weinhold-Bau and if you are lucky you might meet Father Christmas”, says Martin Schürer, staff of the University Communications, who organizes the event.

Everybody who wants to get from the university site Straße der Nationen 62 to the Weinhold-Bau might use a shuttle-bus for free. The bus will leave at 1.35 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. in front of the entrance of the Böttcher-Bau.
