From April 20 through May 3, 2016, the “AC21 International Forum” will take place at the Technische Universität Chemnitz for the first time. More than 100 guests from all over the world will arrive in Chemnitz to attend. Every two years, the “Academic Consortium for the 21st Century” (AC21), a network founded in 2002 made up of 19 member universities from five continents, invites guests to attend its International Forum. As a founding member, the TU Chemnitz occupies a leadership role and supports global collaboration in education and research as well as international cultural exchange.

Science Minister Dr. Eva-Maria Stange praised the Technische Universität Chemnitz for its successful international cooperation. “To accomplish and further develop its many various functions in teaching and research, the TU Chemnitz relies now more than ever on successful cooperation in networks,” explains State Minister Dr. Stange. “Alongside those on the regional and national level, international networks have now also become a matter of course – to the benefit of all involved. You can see how well this works at the TU Chemnitz by looking at the impressive list of all of its contacts from more than 130 partner institutions on all continents.” Additionally, the TU Chemnitz is “a role model and important initiator for the region concerning cosmopolitanism, partnership and tolerance,” emphasized Science Minister Stange.

In Chemnitz, participants of the “AC21 International Forum” will discuss the conference topic “Networks of Innovation for the Transformation of Society through Science”. For example, the promotion of transfer within transdisciplinary and cross-industry networks as well as the creation of suitable conditions will be presented in order to enable successful operations within international networks. Moreover, conference guests will also receive an inside view of the TU Chemnitz’s Federal Cluster of Excellence “Merge Technologies for Multifunctional Lightweight Structures” as well as the university’s partnerships with external research institutions, businesses and partners in the city and region.
