Background: “Profile data on internationality of universities”

The DAAD, the HRK and the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Foundation (AvH) initiated a joint project for the collection of “Profile data on internationality of universities” in 2009. The objective of this project was to provide participating German universities annually with data for measuring their own internationality as well as in comparison with other universities of the same type. For transparency reasons, only data from publicly accessible sources were collected, such as the Federal Statistical Office, the European Commission, the HRK-Hochschulkompass, or own statistics of the DAAD and the AvH. Although the participating universities are anonymized in the report, each of them is provided with an individualized report on its results for self-evaluation.
