New Appointment

Dr. Rabea Kleymann has been appointed by the President of Chemnitz University of Technology as a new Junior Professor effective June 1, 2023

As of June 1, 2023, Dr. Rabea Kleymann has been newly appointed as junior professor at Chemnitz University of Technology. She will head the Junior Professorship of Digital Humanities at the Faculty of Humanities.

About the Person: Jun.-Prof. Dr. Rabea Kleymann

Rabea Kleymann studied German studies, film studies, and German literature with a focus on gender and culture at the universities of Mainz and Hamburg.

In 2020, she received her doctorate from the University of Hamburg for her dissertation on "Formless Form: Epistemics and Poetics of the Aggregate in Late Goethe". The dissertation was awarded summa cum laude. During her doctorate, she was a guest at the University of Chicago (USA), among others places.

As a postdoc, Rabea Kleymann led the project "Diffractive Epistemics. Cultures of Knowledge in the Digital Humanities" at the Leibniz Center for Literary and Cultural Research Berlin, before she accepted the call to Chemnitz University of Technology.

Her research topics include mixed methods approaches, multimodal forms of knowledge, and infrastructural settings. Rabea Kleymann focuses on the logics of knowledge production in the humanities in the context of digital transformation. She is particularly interested in the intertwining of theoretical concepts and critical practices.

As a board member of the DHd − Association for Digital Humanities in the German Speaking Areas and co-founder of the working group "Digital Humanities Theorie", Rabea Kleymann initiates and moderates exchange formats and is actively involved in community building.

At Chemnitz University of Technology, Rabea Kleymann will further develop and coordinate the field of digital humanities. As a junior professor, she will strengthen the interdisciplinary connection between the humanities and computer science. In view of the digital transformation of science and society, which has recently manifested itself in developments of generative language models such as ChatGPT, Rabea Kleymann focuses on the important role of the humanities as a discipline of reflection.
