The University Communications Department provides services in many areas where the Technische Universität Chemnitz and the public meet on a regional, national and international level. The department is integrated within the office of the Rector. The team provides target-group-oriented communication and presentations of the TU Chemnitz in close coordination with the university leadership, in order to strengthen and develop the university's standing in society.
The press office is the first point of contact for representatives of the media and establishes connections between journalists and researchers. The office reports about university life in multifaceted ways. The alumni team establishes and maintains contact between former and current university members. Furthermore, the University Communications Department organizes events for the general public and raises additional funds to support university projects. Through the acquisition of Deutschlandstipendien (a scholarship and support program for students), it builds direct connections between dedicated students and businesses seeking qualified employees.
The University Communications Department promotes both corporate identity and appearance in one - including internet and print materials and even the Uni-Shop Collection. Marketing for the Federal Cluster of Excellence "Merge Technologies for Multifunctional Lightweight Structures" (MERGE) constitutes another special focus for the department. In all of these domains, service and target-group-oriented communication is the central priority.
