Sie sind Teil des britischen Humors: Wörter, die auch "betrunken" bedeuten können, sogenannte "Drunkonyms". Ein Stand-Up-Comedian hat sogar behauptet, dass man aus praktisch jedem englischen Wort ein Synonym für "drunk" machen kann. Sein Beispiel: "I was totally carparked". Klingt tatsächlich so, als würde er über hohen Alkoholkonsum sprechen, auch wenn das Wort für "Parkplatz" nichts damit zu tun hat. Zwei deutsche Sprachwissenschaftler haben das Ganze in einer liguistischen Studie überprüft.
