Thema: Lyapunov Instability of Lennard-Jones Fluids (SFB C8)

The dynamical nature of the glass transition, which is observed in nature and also in binary Lennard-Jones (LJ) fluids, is still not fully understood.

Our goal is to gain deeper insights by investigating characteristic quantities from the theory of nonlinear dynamical systems.

We present our recent numerical results for Lyapunov spectra and the dynamics of the corresponding Lyapunov vectors. They are obtained by Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations for LJ fluids and by the application of Gram-Schmidt re-orthogonalization schemes for the Lyapunov characteristic quantities.

Issues of parallel implementations of these numerical methods will be discussed.

Das Seminar wird von Prof. Meyer geleitet. Interessenten sind herzlich eingeladen.
