Programme

As part of their project work, the team of early career researchers from SENDA - “Sensor-based systems for early detection of dementia – a reaction to demographic change”, who are funded by the ESF (European Social Fund) and the free State of Saxony, are organising an interdisciplinary conference entitled “New methods for early detection of dementia – contribution of motor control, sensitivity & artificial intelligence”. The two-day conference will be taking place from 24 - 25 April 2020 at the TU Chemnitz and is free of charge. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend and take part.

The team of early career researchers (in existence since August 2017) consists of PhD and post-doctoral candidates from the professorships of Sports Psychology, Movement Sciences, Digital Signal Processing and Circuit Technology and Analysis from the TU Chemnitz. The aim of the SENDA research project is to identify cognitive, motor-function, sensory, as well as neurophysiological predictors for early detection of dementia and its precursors. Initial results will be presented and discussed at the conference.

Programme of events

On Friday, 24 April 2020, Professor de Bruin will open the academic part of the conference with his key note “Dementia screening by examination of the interaction between gaze and dynamic posture stability” (presented in German). This will be followed by presentations of initial results of the research from the areas of motor control, sensitivity, neurophysiology and artificial intelligence by the SENDA team of early career researchers. An academic exchange on the issue between national and international research groups will take place in the framework of a poster session. Finally, the first day of the conference will conclude with a diverse workshop programme which is run by academics from the disciplines involved. As the number of participants is limited, separate registration is required for the workshops. Here you find information about Workshop Programme.

On Saturday, 25 April 2020, the conference will be open to members of the public. Interested persons from Chemnitz and the surrounding area are particularly invited. In addition to short talks, results from the research will be presented in an accessible way by the SENDA team. Anyone interested is cordially invited to take part in the ensuing discussion.
