Experimental Equipment

The chair X-ray and Neutron Diffractometry was equipped with the following experimental equipment (status as of march 2010). The further use of the equipment is documented at the different devices.

X-ray Diffraction

PTS

Four-circle diffractometer XRD 3000PTS

  • high-voltage gernerator ID 3000 and various monochromators (Graphit, LiF, Ge- channel cut, Multilayer)
  • used for reflectometry as well as strain and texture measurements
  • the device is now operated by the chair Surface and Interface Physics

Universal diffractometer XRD-7

  • high-voltage generator ID3000 and Eulerian cradle with x-y-stage
  • used for phase analysys as well as strain and texture measurements
  • the device is now operated by the chair Surface and Interface Physics

Two-axis diffractometer HZG 4

  • high-voltage generator ID3000
  • used for phase analysis
  • the device is now operated in the framework of the advanced students practise
Theta-Theta-Diffraktometer

Theta-Theta-diffractometer

  • high-voltage generator ID3000, focussing secondary monochromator and high-temperature sample chamber
  • used for structure analysis of liquid and amorphous samples
  • the device has been put out of service

Additional measurements have been carried out at the following external scientific facilities

  • Beamlines A, BW5, G3 and X of HASYLAB Hamburg
  • Beamlines BM29, ID15 and ROBL of ESRF Grenoble

Neutron diffraction

Neutron diffraction measurements have been performed at the following external neutron sources

  • angle dispersive diffractometry at LLB Saclay and ILL Grenoble
  • flight time diffractometry at the spallation source ISIS at Rutherford-Appleton laboratory
  • Small angle neutron scattering at Beamline D22 at ILL Grenoble
