Political Systems

The department of Political Systems analyses not only the political systems of individual states as a whole, but it also examines systems of sub-state units like the German federal states. There, core institutions, the political processes considering the role of the political actors as well as the related policy outcomes are of particular interest. Among other research subjects, the work of the professorship is focused on electoral systems, elections, parties, coalitions and stakeholders. The department of Political Systems is concerned with both democracies and dictatorships and covers issues of system transformation.
