 PROFESSORSHIP MEDIA COMMUNICATION

The focus of the professorship in teaching and research is on the interaction between social communication and (technological) media change. The technological media change of recent decades has had a profound impact on people's everyday lives and has also left clear traces at the meta-level of social communication. Communication science deals comprehensively with the description and analysis of these processes of change. Using the existing range of methods and theories in communication science, it is possible not only to describe this change, but also to assess its negative and positive effects, both at the individual micro level and at the societal macro level. At the same time, continuous media change requires communication science to constantly review and further develop its theories and models.

The team describes and analyzes these changes in media and society using the theoretical and methodological tools of communication science, while also committing to its continuous development. A specific focus is currently placed on the fields of health communication, social inequalities, and news.
