Welcome to Institute for European Studies (IES)
The Institute for European Studies (IES) was established in 2008 as one of the seven institutes of the Faculty of Humanities at Technische Universität Chemnitz. The IES is an interdisciplinary centre devoted to the study of European institutions and cultural and social phenomena in Western and Eastern European regions. We offer higher education programmes in European Studies (BA, MA and PhD) and carry out research in the fields of European integration, regionalism, politics of memory, migration and democratization processes in Europe.
The IES maintains a Jean-Monnet-Chair and a wide network of cooperation with research centres and universities throughout Europe and edits the “Chemnitzer Europastudien” and “AIES-online” publication series. All activities of our institute can be found on the websites of its five chairs:
- Romance Cultural Studies
