Biographical Note:

Mark Schreiber is currently completing his PhD thesis on dramatic and cinematic representations and evaluations of Celtic Tiger-Ireland. He studied English and American Studies, German Literature and Philosophy at Chemnitz University of Technology and the University of Sheffield. Since completing his M.A. in January 2002, he has held positions as Research Assistant and Lecturer in American Cultural Studies and co-editor of the Mitteilungsblatt der Deutschen Gesellschaft fuer Amerikastudien at the University of Technology Dresden and as Guest Lecturer in British and American Studies at Chemnitz University of Technology. From 2002 until 2005 he held a PhD scholarship from International University Bremen (IUB) and was part of an interdisciplinary graduate programme in the Humanities entitled “Mapping Modernity. Changing Cultural Orientations”. At IUB, Mark also coordinated a student theatre group.

His research interests include Contemporary British and Irish Theatre and Drama, British and Irish Film, Cultural Studies & Theory.

He has published on contemporary Irish drama, with a special focus on Enda Walsh.

Mark is a member of the German Society for Contemporary Drama in English (CDE), the European Federation of Associations and Centres of Irish Studies (EFACIS), and the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures (IASIL).
