Extended format at the WOT doctoral seminar

This year's WOT doctoral seminar from 8 to 10 July 2019 took place for the first time in an extended setting in the presence of internal and external experts from related scientific fields.

The three-day seminar covered the topics of coating technology, material structuring and treatment processes as well as modelling and method development in a structured series of lectures and discussions. Experts from neighbouring scientific fields, invited for the first time as part of the extended format, enriched the specialist discussions as „external experts“. The seminar also included an evening event in a Chemnitz pub, where many a specialist discussion was continued in a relaxed atmosphere. The 2019 doctoral seminar was well received by doctoral candidates and experts alike. The new format revealed new interfaces between the topics and thus provided inspiration and motivation for the candidates in their next phases of work.

At present, 15 scientists and eight external doctoral students are working on their doctoral theses at the Chair of Materials and Surface Engineering under the supervision of Professor Lampke. In addition, two scientists are working on their habilitation theses.
