Recognition of a habilitation

On 20 December 2018, Dr Wolfgang Hansal defended his habilitation thesis entitled „Electrochemical pulse deposition“.

In his paper, Dr habil. Hansal systematically recorded the influence of process parameters of electrochemical pulse deposition and material sizes of the substrates to be coated on the coating result. The result is a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge in this field. The advantages of current-pulsed processes in the cathodic and anodic areas of electrochemical coatings and surface coating processes were demonstrated and explained using specific examples. Dr Hansal's work thus serves as a basis for further developments in these promising surface technologies.

The thesis was supervised by Prof Thomas Lampke. The habilitation committee and thus the first well-wishers also included the chairman of the procedure, Prof Arved Hübler from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology, Prof Wolfgang Paatsch from the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, as well as Prof Günter Wozniak and Prof Michael Groß, both from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology. Prof Wolfgang Kautek from the University of Vienna, who was also Dr Hansal's university supervisor, was unfortunately unable to attend the completion of the habilitation process in person. Dr Hansal's habilitation thesis will be published shortly via the IWW publication series and the Qucosa platform.
