The WOT bids farewell to „Visiting Research Fellow“ Luca Bortolotti

From 9 June to 9 July 2025, Mr Luca Bortolotti from the Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) visited the Chair of Materials and Surface Engineering as part of a sponsored guest researcher stay. During this time, he worked on partial results in a joint project that aims to establish high-entropy alloys (HEA) as filler materials for thermal spraying.

Mr Bortolotti focused on gaining a better understanding of the behaviour of HEA materials in these applications. To this end, he produced defect-free reference samples by spark plasma or field-assisted sintering (SPS, FAST) and investigated their chemical behaviour using gel-based polarisation techniques for corrosion assessment. His experiments and comparative analyses serve the joint research task and prepare future joint publications of the TUC and UNIMORE on the phase stability of HEAs under thermal spray conditions.

We thank Mr Bortolotti for his visit and very good work!
