An afternoon dedicated to the IWW
The afternoon of 7 November 2024 in Erfenschlag at Chemnitz University of Technology was all about the IWW. The association invited „Innovative Materials, Institute of Materials Science and Engineering“ (InnoMat IWW e.V.) to its annual general meeting at the METEOR project house.
Among other things, the association serves as an alumni network of the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (IWW) to promote dialogue between (former) employees even after they have left the institute, as well as to promote cooperation. Prof Bernhard Wielage, initiator and second chairman of the association, and Prof Thomas Lampke, first chairman, reported on the previous development and future objectives of InnoMat IWW e.V. In addition, Prof Guntram Wagner, director of the IWW, informed the members and guests about news and developments at the IWW.
This was immediately followed by the IWW colloquium, in which Prof. Dr Thomas Schwarz (Chair of Chemical Technology, Chemnitz University of Technology) spoke on the subject of „Wall catalysts - an interdisciplinarity of materials technology and technical chemistry“ and Mag. Dr habil. Wolfgang Hansal (EGM - Institut für Elektrochemie, Galvanotechnik und Materialchemie Ziviltechniker GmbH, Wiener Neustadt) spoke about „The role of electrochemistry as a key technology in the field of green energy“. These two exciting and entertaining presentations on current research and development trends laid the foundations for later discussions during the evening IWW retreat, which took place at the Max Louis restaurant in Chemnitz.
