Successful resumption of the IWW Colloquium
The fourth IWW Colloquium took place on 10.11.2022. Originating from the colloquium on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the professorship WOT in 2018, which was praised by guests and participants, the IWW Colloquium took place for the first time in November 2019. The colloquium combines the annual report of the IWW professorships with interesting presentations by partners and alumni as well as a networking evening with guests and colleagues. Due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic, the IWW Colloquium was moved to virtual space in 2020 and 2021. This year, all participants were looking forward to the resumed direct contact and personal exchange.
Almost 100 guests accepted the invitation, among them many of the professorship's research and development partners, current and former employees of the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering, alumni and student assistants. The colloquium was thus a successful continuation of the format aimed at encouraging low-threshold exchange between the various groups associated with the IWW. Through their participation, the guests impressively demonstrated that research, teaching and transfer are not just buzzwords, but a lived self-image of the IWW professorship. This opinion was shared not only by the IWW professors but also by the invited speakers Prof. emer. Michael Gehde (Chair of Plastics Technology, TU Chemnitz), Dr. Benjamin Zillmann (Robert Bosch GmbH) and Dr. Marcel Graf (CMMC GmbH), who with their exciting presentations on current research and development trends in materials issues as well as the associated challenges in terms of material requirements, resource conservation and recycling laid the groundwork for the later discussions during the evening event.
