WOT employee receives university prize for doctoral thesis
Back in December of last year 2021, Dr Pierre Landgraf received one of nine university prizes for his doctoral thesis, which the TU Chemnitz and the Gesellschaft der Freunde der Technischen Universität Chemnitz e. V. (Society of Friends of Chemnitz University of Technology) award annually for the best final theses at the university.
The Society of Friends of Chemnitz University of Technology (Gesellschaft der Freunde der Technischen Universität Chemnitz e. V.) has once again offered nine university prizes in 2021. The best theses of the eight faculties and the Centre for Teacher Education are awarded. The prize winner from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was Dr Pierre Landgraf. He received the university prize for his doctorate in 2020 and the associated dissertation thesis on the topic of „Microstructure and hardness development during laser beam treatment of high-alloy tool steels“. With his work, it was possible for the first time to make almost exact simulative predictions of hardness levels and hardness depth curves of examined high-alloy tool steels as a result of laser hardening processes of different process parameters.
The entire press release on the award ceremony is available on the website of the TU Chemnitz press office ( https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/tu/pressestelle/aktuell/11025 ).
