WTK 2021 also successful in digital form
The 22nd Werkstofftechnisches Kolloquium (WTK), which was held as an online-live event on 24 March 2021, also shone in digital form with interesting scientific contributions. Highlights of the two-day event with a total of 28 specialist lectures on materials and surface engineering as well as materials science were the plenary lectures on the topic of Industry 4.0. Professor Detlev Zühlke, main initiator of the technology initiative SmartFactory KL e. V. and now retired, addressed the necessary framework conditions to transform an industrial revolution from vision to reality. Dr Franziska Bocklisch, acting head of the Chair of General Psychology and Human Factors at Chemnitz University of Technology, emphasised the importance of transdisciplinary cooperation, which enables the successful implementation of human-technology cooperation. Professor Andreas Undisz, Head of the Chair of Electron Microscopy and Microstructure Analysis at the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering since 1 November 2020, focused on materials science in his contribution on the possibilities of transmission electron microscopy methods for analysing material surfaces.
