Kick-off of an SAB-funded project with ThyssenKrupp-Presta Chemnitz

On 28 September 2017, a kick-off meeting marked the start of a three-year joint project between the WOT and the Chemnitz-based SME ThyssenKrupp Presta Camshafts, funded by the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB). The project task is to improve camshaft systems for internal combustion engines. As a strong market representative of such systems, ThyssenKrupp Presta is a designated project partner. Camshafts control the valve movements in combustion engines and thus influence, among other things, engine performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Compared to shafts with rigid cams, variable valve trains can not only shut off cylinders but also realise different valve lift curves for different load and speed ranges. They thus greatly improve the efficiency of combustion engines.

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by the Free State of Saxony.
