Print and Media Technology (M.Sc.)
The media sector is mainly characterised by the development of new and innovative technologies. It is, thus, an important growth market of the future. As the media user is primarily interested in contents, the task of optimally presenting the diversity and complexity of possible communication channels with regard to content and technology is increasingly gaining in importance.

The interdisciplinary Bachelor's programme Print and Media Technology focuses on new media technologies. Its international orientation is continued and extended in the consecutive Master's programme Print and Media Technology, which is held completely in English. The Master's programme is unique in offering participants the opportunity to take part in the double degree programme in cooperation with the Department of Printing and Media Engineering at Manipal University in India. Students who opt for the double degree programme, spend their 2nd Master's semester in Manipal. Successful graduates receive the degrees Master of Science "Print and Media Technology" (M.Sc.) from Chemnitz University and Master of Science "Printing and Media Technology" (M.Sc.) from Manipal University. There is also the possibility to do the whole Master's programme at Chemnitz University.

Content of the study programme
The focus of this Master’s programme is on current developments in the printing and media industry, especially on the promising area of printed electronics. Due to the hybrid and dynamic nature of this field, special emphasis is put on an interdisciplinary education of the students. Thus, the course draws upon a wide range of disciplines. By means of projects and seminars, which are closely linked to state-of-the-art industrial and academic research, students learn how to work scientifically. Further, the international orientation and the course language English meet the concerns of the increasingly globalised environment of the subject area. Because of the strong research focus of the programme, students acquire key competencies that prepare them to enter responsible positions in research and development or to continue with PhD studies after graduation.

An exceptional opportunity is offered to students who opt to study the programme as double degree, which is jointly organised by Chemnitz University and Manipal University in India. Double degree students from Chemnitz spend their second semester in Manipal, benefiting from the high quality and exceptional reputation of the partner university as well as the possibility for in-depth study within different cultural contexts. Successful graduates of the double degree programme are awarded two full Master's degrees (M.Sc.). There is also the possibility to study the whole programme (4 semesters) in Chemnitz.
