July 7-8, 2012: Indo-German Cricket Tournament
The first Indian-German Cricket Tournament organised by Deep Prakash and Dr. Gert Schlegel, supported by the Departments of Sports Equipment & Technology and Printed Media Technology, was held on the 7th and 8th of July 2012. To prepare the beginners for the match, seminars and workshops were offered for the newcomers prior to the tournament. In the competition, students from Halle, Jena and Chemnitz faced each other. With a mix of sun and ran, the Chemnitz Cricketing Warriors defeated their challengers, taking home the trophy. On top of that, the “Man of the Match” and “Man of the Series” were also honoured for their performance after three group matches and the final. Prof. Stephan Odenwald and Prof. Arved Hübler, heads of both institutes, and the primarily female audience were impressed by the much less common Cricket in Germany and hope for a repetition next year.
