OE-A Accepts the Growth Core's Invitation to Chemnitz
From 25th to 26th July 2006, the Institute for Print and Media Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology (pmTUC), representing the Growth Core "printronics", welcomed more than 60 members to the 7th working group meeting of the Organic Electronics Association (OE-A). The OE-A is a working group of the VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau - German Engineering Federation), consisting of research institutes and companies that cover the whole process chain of organic electronics. The conference was opened with the internal demonstrator meeting. Within this working group, several members of the OE-A, among them the printed systems GmbH and the Fraunhofer IZM, together develop an organic electronics gameboard demonstrator. This is a game board for demonstrating various elements and processes of organic electronics. The demonstrator is to be finalised until the Organic Electronics Conference & Exhibition (25.-27.09.06). Afterwards, Andreas Ehrle (printed systems GmbH), spokesperson of the Growth Core "printronics", officially opened the conference. He also informed the participants about the objectives and subprojects of "printronics". Julia Wanke, who stood in for Prof. Hübler at short notice, spoke about the Chemnitz University of Technology and the pmTUC. Finally, the participants were invited to a guided tour through the laboratories and facilities of the institute. In the evening, the international conference participants could get together and exchange experiences at the Sächsisches Industriemuseum Chemnitz (Industry Museum Chemnitz). The second day started off with a brief introduction of the guests and the new OE-A members - among them the 3D-Micromac AG, which is also contributing to the Growth Core project "printronics". Moreover, Dr. Klaus Hecker, managing director of the OE-A, spoke about current developments in this field which were subsequently discussed in plenum. After moving to air-conditioned rooms, the meetings of the working groups "Technologies" and "Applications" could take place as scheduled and results and decisions could be presented despite the tropical weather conditions. The next big OE-A event will be the Organic Electronics Conference & Exhibition, taking place from 25th to 27th September in Frankfurt/Main. The Growth Core partners printed systems GmbH and Fraunhofer IZM will also attend this meeting.
