Steinbeis Research and Innovation Centre for Conveying Technology / Intralogistics
History and Philosophy
The Steinbeis Research and Innovation Centre for Materials Handling / Intralogistics was founded at the end of 2012 to consolidate the transfer of science and technology between universities and industry. The focus of the Innovation Centre's work is on the development of customer-specific solutions in the field of materials handling technology and on carrying out industry-related research.
Structure
The Steinbeis Innovation Centre for Conveying Technology / Intralogistics currently employs four people who work on projects in the field of high-performance fibre ropes, transport timing belts, energy-efficient conveying technology and conveying systems based on renewable materials. The Innovation Centre is also an industry-oriented development partner that contributes to university education by awarding and realising student projects. It prepares the publicly funded projects and, as a research institution, is a cooperation partner for small and medium-sized enterprises in project management.
In 2013, a Steinbeis Research Centre was founded, where mainly research and development orders from industrial partners are processed. Research results have already been successfully transferred into practice. For example, a skid conveyor system for transporting car bodies in the automotive industry was developed and built from wood-based materials. The much lighter and quieter conveyor system has been in successful use for more than three years.
